Digital innovator. Leader. Outside-the-square thinker. David specialises in user experience architecture, design and digital technologies for large programs and enterprises.
A problem-solver by nature, his core capabilities also include structured innovation, leadership and design thinking, particularly in large change-adverse organisations where his unique brand of team-building and stakeholder engagement breaks down barriers to innovation and creates strong networks.
A founding partner and Director of Canberra’s iconic design house MA@D Communication, David led a team of designers, project managers, analysts, developers and creatives to stake a place in the Australian market before the company was acquired by ZOO Advertising in 2007. Multiple senior contract positions in the Australian Government ensued, where he played a leadership role in developing corporate capabilities around innovation and user experience architecture.
David recently led the Business Design Lab at the Department of Immigration and Border Protection – an internal ‘Skunkworks’ style consulting unit used by business areas to break complex problems in unique ways. He is currently working on the redevelopment of the service design and user experience of the Australian Passport Office’s internal systems and public interfaces.
Practicing what he preaches, David also develops his own innovative businesses including the start-up Stalkthis.com, an online shopping utility that monitors the prices of your favourite online products, and Suitcase, a service to help travellers trade social media potential for hotel perks. David also mentors on the ANU Techlauncher program, assisting and guiding teams of students to explore and develop start-up businesses.
